Trifecta's Long Awaited Debut, Finally Underway!

Today marks Trifecta: Atlas Wing's debut to the world of competitive e-Sports. Boasting a very diverse line-up of players, TAW seeks to gain prestige by going for the gold in the upcoming Mineski Philippine Starleague and other local Philippine Starcraft tourneys. Learn more about TAW's history and development below.

Origin and Formation:

The players and team that inspired the creation of Trifecta

The group traces back to when three friends began taking interest in Korea's professional gaming culture. As avid fans of Korea's gaming scene, particularly that of Starcraft: Brood War, the three friends routinely kept up-to-date with the latest happenings on the Starcraft professional scene. By watching videos of their favorite players, the friends began imitating their idols' style and incorporate the techniques into their own playing style. From that moment on, the friends began playing more and more competitively against each other. Seeking to prove their skills outside their own practice environment, the three friends vowed to showcase their skills in public. All was going as planned, until the unexpected leave of one of the friends. The two other friends who remained lost all hope in competitive gaming, simply because two players CANNOT make a team. It all seemed like the end for the group, until...

That fateful day.

That fateful day, one of the two friends, Rei, discovered that one of his high school friends finally decided to take residence in the same complex as him and the other friend Mervzz. Rei's high school friend, going by the name of Ivin, was actually with Rei on a DoTA team named A41 that later disbanded due to the members' decisions to go to different universities.

Being relatively new to the Starcraft scene, Mervzz decided to mentor Ivin in the ways of competitive Starcraft gaming. Together, the three trained tirelessly until the wee hours of the morning in order to hone their skills. Once they were confident in their abilities, the three finally decided to name their group: TRIFECTA, which literally meant "When three become one".

The first official match.

It was official. Trifecta was born. Trifecta was more than just a team, it was a brotherhood beyond gaming.
Training with each other even when schedules did not seem to fit any time for practice, Trifecta grew more and more skilled in their gameplay.

It was not long before Trifecta was finally given a chance to showcase their skills. In their first official match, Rei totally obliterated a Terran player who challenged him to a game 1 vs 1 on Lost Temple. Also, Paradigm Gaming Center, where Trifecta's first official match as a group was played, became Trifecta's official venue for any e-Sports related events and activities. Paradigm Gaming Center was now Trifecta's official headquarters.

Too bad this happened right after Rei totally destroyed the Terran's land forces with his 3-3 Carriers.

Now the part that you have all been waiting for, the official line-up of Trifecta: Atlas Wing!

THE NON-PLAYERS

Team Manager: CJ B.
Role: The manager is in charge of looking after the players, and generally in charge of the team's practice schedules and break times. The team's walking-talking file organizer. He also makes sure the players do their homework, and eat three meals a day--- with snacks in between.

Chief Administrator: AJ E.
Role: He's in charge of maintaining the website and other administrative duties when called for. He's also in charge of keeping the team morale up with his often witty and funny statements.

THE PLAYERS

Trifecta boasts a very diverse pool of players, each with very different styles and strategies. Although, Trifecta players in general are known for their Macro-heavy tactics and solid playing style.

------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trifecta's Zerg players are among the most creative and relentless gamers you will ever see. Known for their fast paced style, Trifecta's zerg players make quick disposal of their adversaries, with little resistance.

Team Captain: Mervzz L.
Role: Basically the chief decision maker for the team, and doubles as the team's tactician.
User ID: Trifecta ParanoiA
Race: Zerg
Strongest Match up: ZvZ
Weakest Match up: ZvP
Influences: SaviOr, Eff0rt, Jaedong
Playing Style:
The captain is not the "Chief tactician" for no reason. He boasts excellent unit control and exceptional ZvZ tactics. Ranging from the brute and powerful Ultralisks, to the very sly and smart Zerg Queens, The captain will not spare any unit in the zerg arsenal to dismantle all those who stand in his way. He is known for having a high level of game sense and innovation, making him a dangerous foe if underestimated in the slightest way.

Swift and relentless.

Member: Bob
User ID: ?????
Race: Zerg
Strongest Match up: ZvP
Weakest Match up: ZvT
Influences: Jaedong, Nal_rA, FlaSh
Playing Style:
Bob prefers a harass-styled approach to his games. Very notorious for his 4 pools, Mutalisk harass, and Lurker drops, Bob allows no room for his opponents to breathe, essentially starving them of resources until they are forced to type out. Always be prepared if you ever face him.

There's more than one way to a player's base.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trifecta's Terran line are a lot of extremely solid players. All of the Terrans in the line-up are known for their mech based macro style. They are formidable metal juggernauts on the field of battle.

Member: Lorenz C.
User ID: Trifecta Freezing
Race: Terran
Strongest Match up: TvP
Weakest Match up: TvT
Influences: FantaSy, FlaSh, BoXeR, NaDa
Playing Style:
Plays in a very safe yet solid manner. Preferring a standard macro approach to his games, Freezing prefers to counter than to engage his enemy head-on. His solid fundamental gameplay is the key to his regular success on the battlefield. It is not evident as to what his weaknesses are due to his extremely sound game mechanics. He is Terran macro gaming at its finest.

Member: Ivin L.
User ID: Trifecta Avalon
Race: Terran
Strongest Match up: TvP
Weakest Match up: TvT
Influences: FlaSh, FantaSy
Playing Style:
Trifecta's resident defense specialist, Avalon prefers to play defensively until the latter stages of the game where he totally overwhelms the opponent with macro and uncanny army positioning. He is infamous for having the lowest APM in the roster, and yet being able to match the opponent both in terms of micro and macro. He is also known for his near impenetrable contains.

You think that's tough? Wait 'til the Goliaths arrive.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trifecta's Protoss are arguably the most versatile players on the team. Both protoss have no significantly weak match ups, and both have a high level of game sense and timing.

Member: Derick C.
User ID: Trifecta InvaLiD,Valkyrin [Forte]
Race: Protoss
Strongest Match up: PvT
Weakest Match up: PvZ
Influences: Bisu
Playing Style:
Invalid is a very dangerous opponent from early to mid game with his perfectly timed assaults and game sense. Late game he is notorious for his incredible timing attacks and Arbiter plays. He is known for greedy build orders and strong economic transitions.

One of his notorious timing attacks.

Member: Rei A.
User ID: Trifecta MAerO
Race: Protoss
Strongest Match up: PvZ
Weakest Match up: PvT
Influences: Bisu, Stork, and Nal_rA
Playing Style:
As a fundamentally sound player, MAerO is known for his excellent unit control/micro/multitasking coupled with solid macro. He is known for his often two-pronged attacks, utilizing distractions such as reaver drops before coming in for a full scale assault against his opponent who is scrambling in trying to defend multiple threats at the same time.

Don't worry about the carriers. They're harmless. :)

Member: Koki S.

User ID: Trifecta_[Sky]
Race: Protoss
Strongest Match up: PvT
Weakest Match up: PvZ
Influences: Bisu, Stork
Playing Style:
Heavily relying on early timing attacks to his games, Sky is known to take out base after base with his aggressive dragoon and zealot army usage. He excels in pressuring his enemies early game and abusing advantages to dominate everyone who stands in his way. He personally prefers the 2 gate goon and 2 gate robotics build orders. He favors huge, risky battles over small engagements.
